The Summit

The Summit at Broomfield;

This project consisted of 500 apartment units and clubhouse. The apartment structure is wrapped around two four story parking garages on a ten acre site.

Year Built:   2002-2004

Contract Value:   $3,500,000

From the beginning the electrical portion of this project was over budget. Greystar Construction handed over the electrical design to 1st Electric owner, Rick Stocking, to re-design, re-budget, and seek more cost effective construction methods. During the electrical design of The Summit, the National Electrical Code did not allow the use of NMB cable, better know as "ROMEX" in four story apartment buildings. Through Mr. Stockings involvement with the NEC he was aware of a change coming in the 2002 that would allow the use of ROMEX. Rick also new the State Electric board was voting to accept the the 2002 code changes and convinced the local Chief Inspector to accept the use of "ROMEX" if the State adapted the change.
